Midgette golfers take second at dual
OKOBOJI – Two days after struggling at Okoboji View in a meet against Spirit Lake, the Estherville Lincoln Central girls golf team returned to form carding a 230 to take second at a dual with Spirit Lake and Harris-Lake Park.
“Overall we scored pretty well compared to what we did on Tuesday,” said ELC coach Kevin Richardson. “We just need to find that fourth golfer to help out our scores a little bit.”
Spirit Lake won with a total of 180 and H-LP had 239.
Spirit Lake’s Maureen Owens won medalist honors with a 41 and Mikaela Weeks was named runner-up with a 45.
ELC was led by Taylor Heinrichs with a round of 52.
She was followed by Aryn Ward with a 56, Paige Hoffmeyer 57 and Reanna Muller 65.
“I’d like to see us drop our scores a little,” said Richardson. “Taylor could drop into the forties. Aryn and Paige each had nice rounds but it hurts taking a 65 in that fourth spot. Three out of the past four meets we have shot about the same so we’re consistent. We just need to keep improving.”
Non-counting scores for ELC came from Rachel Lausen with a 70 and Andrea Lenning with an 80.
For Spirit Lake Emily Ayers carded a 46 and Anna Hoss carded a 48.
Non-counting scores came from Leah Hilpipre and Regan Sieperda with rounds of 49.
In JV action, ELC fell to Spirit Lake 217-312.
Chelsea Simons carded a 69 to lead ELC.
She was followed by Bethany Schubert with a 75 Maddie Ziegler 79 and Shelby Christopher with an 89.
The Midgettes return to action Saturday as they travel to face Bishop-Garrigan.
