Midgettes take fourth place at Tornado Relays
STORM LAKE – While resting some athletes and rearranging the lineup, the Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Track Team earned points in each of the four field events on the way to a fourth-place finish at the Tornado Relays on Tuesday.
“I’m proud of all the field events-all of them did well with personal-bests,” said ELC coach Tina Burton.
Morgan Schichtl led the way with a career-best throw in the shot put of 35 feet, 10 1/12 inches to take first.
Allie Sievert jumped her high of 4 feet, 10 inches in the high jump to place second.
Also Sadie Winter took fourth in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet 1/4 inch and Kyleigh Watkins was sixth in the discus with a throw of 98 feet, 5 inches.
The Midgettes had two first-place finishes in running events.
Macy Dahl ran the 800-meter run in 2:34.
“She just took off and led from the get-go,” said Burton.
Also winning was the distance medley team of Molly Wittmer, Olivia Evans, Emily Kirchner and McKenzie Woodyard with their time of 4:36.
Placing second was the 4×400-meter relay team of Casey Sievert, Woodyard, Dahl and Kirchner in 4:24. The same quartet was fourth in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:58.
The sprint medley team of Winter, Woodyard, Kirchner and Casey Sievert was second in 1:59.
The shuttle hurdle team finished fourth in 1:13. That quartet consisted of Ashley Weston, Kimmie Williams, Evans and Winter.
Wittmer finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in 29.32 seconds.
“The wind wasn’t a huge factor like I thought it would be,” said Burton. “It was just a great night to race.”
ELC returns to action next Tuesday at the E’Hawk Relays in Emmetsburg.
