Tigers sweep Midgets

Although the Estherville Lincoln Central boys tennis team was able to win a few games, Spencer was too tough in their Lakes Conference match Monday as the Tigers swept ELC 9-0.

ELC’s closest finish came at the No. 2 doubles as Josh Keeler and Cody Jackson took the first set 7-5 to Waylon Glienke and Drake Swanson. But the ELC duo then lost the second 6-2 and the tiebreaker by a score of 10-2.

In singles play, Nate Jensen lost 6-2, 6-2 to Drew Jacobsen; Matt Hansen lost 6-1, 6-2 to Mark Wakefield; Keeler lost 6-2, 6-1 to Joel Kaldahl; Brad Olsen lost 6-0, 6-2 to Glienke; jackson lost 6-2, 6-0 to Tyler Greenough; and Joel Kazmerzak lost 6-2, 6-3 to Michael Gabhart.

In other doubles action, Jensen and Olsen lost 6-2, 6-4 to Jacobsen and Wakefield; and Kazmerzak and Matt Hansen lost 6-2, 6-4 to Greenough and Gabhart.

In junior varsity play; Riley Edwards lost 8-1; Seth Shatto lost 8-1; Steve Subbert lost 8-0; Taylor Fernholz lost 8-1; Neil Schmaus lost 8-1 and Anselmo Salazar lost 8-0.

In doubles; Edwards and Shatto lost 8-0; Schmaus and Subbert lost 8-0 and Fernholz and Salazar lost 8-3.
