The Spirit Lake-Okoboji boys tennis team hosted LeMars and lost 7-2.

SLO’s No. 5 singles player, Brandon Stoll, won his match, 2-6, 7-6(8-6), (10-6).

In doubles, Nelson Davis and Mitch O’Neill won 10-7 over Josh Meridith and Curt Durr.

“I was very happy with how our guys played tonight,” said SLO coach Dan Taylor. ” They played so much better than the first time we traveled to Le Mars and played them. The singles was extremely close, with four of the six matches going to third set tiebreak.

“Unfortunately we just didn’t win the majority of those close matches. Just a few points here or there, and the meet result could have swung in our direction.”

In other singles play, Davis lost 6-0, 6-0 to Mike Ahler;s Wes Bergquist lost 6-4, 6-4 to Brian Kehm; O’Neill lost 6-4, 3-6, (12-10) to Meridith; Brady Harmelink lost 4-6, 7-5, (10-6) to Kent Hasselquist and Brett Kraus lost 6-3, 0-6, (10-8) to Durr.

In other doubles play, Bergquist and Stoll lost 10-4 to Ahlers and Kehm. Harmelink and Kraus lost 10-4 to Driggs and Eric Harvey.
