Laker baseball team wins four straight

The Iowa Lakes baseball team has put togeter four straight wins over the last few days as the Lakers.

On Sunday, the Lakers swept St. Cloud Technical College by score of 15-8 and 16-11.

On Tuesday, Iowa Lakes won a slugfest, 25-19, over Buena Vista JV and won the second game of the doubleheader 8-6.

In Sunday’s first game, Iowa Lakes out-hit St. Cloud 16-7 with Joel Cooke pulling out the victory on the mound.

Game two, Iowa Lakes won the hitting battle 17-12. Zack Bandermer was the winning picther with Brett Muron stepping in for the save.

On Tuesday, both the Lakers and Buena Vista JV pounded out 19 hits in game one.

The Laker led 19-9 after three innings before the Beavers rallied to get within two by the bottom of the sixth, 19-17.

The Lakers put up six in the final inning to preserve the win. John Cook was the winning pitcher with Muron again picking up a save.

The Lakers fell behind 6-1 in game two, but a seven-run third inning put them ahead as neither team scored the final four innings.

Pedro Castro earned the victory with Muron picking up his third save.

Iowa Lakes (31-19, 6-14) hosts North Iowa Area Community College in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s first game is at 2 p.m. Sunday’s first game starts at noon at Hess-Limberg Field in Estherville.
