Lawler sets meet record in 100 dash
SPIRIT LAKE – While not her personal best time, Megan Lawler’s time of 12.51 seconds in the 100-meter dash did set a meet record at the Sheryl Maahs Relays.
in a tight race between the top two teams, Algona edge host Spirit Lake Park by half a point, 126.5 to 126 on Tuesday.
Lawler took first in three other events, winning the 100-meter dash and running the lead leg of the 4×200-meter relay team which included Alex Horsman, Lindsey Arneson and Caila Jones. Their time was 1:51.61. Lawler also anchored the sprint medley team of Arneson, horsman and Jones which finished in 1:57.23.
Jones also competed in the sprints, taking second in the 200 in 27.58 seconds and third in the 100 in 13.32 seconds.
The Indians went 1-2 in the 3000-meter run with McKenzie Dziedzic winning in 11:25.56 and Briana Brunsvold placing second in 11:33.78. The duo went 1-3 in the 1500-meter run with Dziedzic winning in 5:21.94 while Brunsvold finished in 5:28.50.
Also second were Kenda Stokke in the 400-meter hurdles and the distance medley relay team of Arneson, Jessica Wallace, Horsman and Dziedzic in 4:39.07.
Wallace was second in the high jump and Stokke was fourth. Both leaped 4 feet, 8 inches.
Sam Mercer placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 104 feet, 5 inches, a personal best. Molly Hutchins placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 1 1/2 inches.
Also fifth was the 4×800-meter relay team of Brooke Janicek, Horsman, Liz Skogerboe and Sam Archer in 12:05.59.Placing sixth were Stokke in the 400-meter dash in 69.07; Janicek in the 800-meter run in 2:53.54 and the 4×100-meter relay team of Arneson, Horsman, Wallace and Stokke in 54.99.
