The Iowa Lakes Women’s Golf Team has advanced one golfer to the 2010 NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Macy Milburn of Estherville will compete against golfers from around the nation at the LPGA International Golf Club Legends Course for the title of National Champion. She will leave for the competition on Saturday, May 15.

“Macy was able to overcome some adverse weather conditions at our Region XI tournament and earn a spot in the National Championship,” said Iowa Lakes Head Golf Coach Dan Soper. “She is the example of what a student athlete should be and I am very pleased she has been rewarded for all of her hard work.”

The tournament sponsored practice rounds start May 16, with the tournament to be played each of the four following days. Tee times for the players have yet to be determined.

“This will be an experience of a lifetime for her and my goal for her is to embrace it, and understand there are many young ladies playing golf in the NJCAA that are envious of her position,” said Soper.
