Dziedzic, Lawler lead way for SLP track

LEMARS – Twenty one points separated the top five teams at the Lakes Conference girls track meet on Tuesday as Spirit Lake Park got the short end of the stick, taking fifth place with a total of 82 points.

Distance specialist McKenzie Dziedzic and star sprinter Megan Lawler led the way for the Indians, earning All-Conference honors for their efforts.

Dziedzic earned second place finishes in both the 3000- and 1500-meter runs with times of 11 minutes, 10.06 seconds and 5:14.66, respectively.

Lawler was the Indians’ lone champion with a first place finish in the 100-meter dash in 12.48 seconds.

Lawler also too second in the 200-meter dash in 26.01 seconds and joined Alex Horsman, Lindsey Arneson and Caila Jones in the 4×200-meter relay team that took second in 1:46.43.

LeMars was named Lakes Conference Champion with a total of 103 points.

Following was Storm Lake with 98, Spencer 97, Western Christian 85, SLP 82, Emmetsburg 53, Estherville Lincoln Central 49 and Cherokee 19.
