SPENCER – The golf season came to an end for the Estherville Lincoln Central boys team on Friday as ELC finished fifth in the Class 3A Sectional Tournament.

“After two weeks of bad weather, conditions were great at Spencer today,” said ELC coach Jeff Soper. “Unfortunately, the guys struggled with the big greens at Spencer Golf and Country Club and weren’t able to take advantage of the nice weather.”

Spencer won with a team score of 306.

Also qualifying for district s was MOC Floyd Valley and Storm Lake with scores of 315 and 321, respectively.

They were followed by Algona with a 331, ELC 341, LeMars 343, Humboldt 361 and Spirit Lake 364.

Max Brashear and Logan Spoo led the Midgets with rounds of 83, tying them for 17th place.

“Max and Logan posted good scores,” said Soper, “but they both felt like they left a couple shots out on the course.”

All-Conference performer Matt Anderson carded an 86 and Tucker Milburn shot an 89 to round out the scoring.

Non-counting scores came from Adam Reiter with a 100 and Tyson Enerson with a 108.

For seniors Anderson and Enerson, it was their last round at ELC.

“(Anderson and Enerson) both contributed quite a bit this year and will be missed next year,” said Soper.
