Knights fall

By Staff | May 28, 2010

TERRIL – With Graettinger-Terril’s upperclassmen away on a trip to Costa Rica, the Knights fielded a team of mostly freshmen and eighth-graders in its first game of the season.

Visiting Sibley-Ocheyedan pounded out 14 hits to just one for the Knights in the 14-0 win by the Generals.

However, G-T coach Stephanie Hanson said her players gave a good effort.

Freshman Alyssa Hoffman pitched five innings giving up nine hits, seven runs (three earned), with four walks, one strikeout and five wild pitches.

Eighth-grader Brooke Hoffman stepped in for the final two innings, giving up five hits, even runs (five earned) with three strikeouts, no walks and two wild pitches.

Lindsay Flaharty had the Knights lone hit as she was 1-2 with a bunt single.

G-T (0-1) expects the upperclassmen back for its second game of the season-Tuesday at Ruthven.
