Indian sluggers fall short

By Staff | Jun 4, 2010

SPIRIT LAKE – Playing in front of its home crowd for the first time this season, the Spirit Lake baseball team fell just short of a Lakes Conference victory over Hull Western Christian, as the Indians lost 5-3.

With two out in the second inning, the Indians rallied to take a 2-1 lead thanks to a Tyler Dean RBI-triple.

Mitch Peschon followed with a single to score Dean from third, however, the Indians gave up an error and three consecutive extra base hits to the Wolfpack in the fifth inning, springing Western Christian to victory.

Peschon and Dean had the Indians’ lone hits on the night, thanks to an excellent outing by winning pitcher Levi Blankespoor.

Paul Brown earned the loss for Spirit Lake.
