Knights falter at home

TERRIL – Graettinger-Terril only gave up four earned runs in a doubleheader against West Bend-Mallard. The unearned runs though proved devastating.

After dropping a 10-8 decision in the first game, the Knights couldn’t rebound in the second, an 11-1 five-inning victory for the Wolverines.

G-T coach Stephanie Hanson said her team had nine errors between the two games. The Knights one positive in the first game was hitting.

G-T pounded out 14 hits led by Nikki Brown, who was 3-4 with two RBIs, and Dakota Hovinga, who was 3-5 with two RBIs. Also, Morgan Matthews was 2-4 with an RBI.

Alyssa Hoffman took the loss on the mound. She gave up 10 runs (two earned) on nine hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

In game two, G-T had just three hits. Lindsay Flaharty and Hailey Nelson each went 1-2 and Hovinga was 1-3.

Brooke Hoffman pitched four inning giving up six runs (none earned) on two hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Alyssa Hoffman gave up five runs (two earned) on three hits with one strikeout and two walks.

G-T (7-5) will try to turn its fortunes around when the team takes to the road against Harris-Lake Park on Monday.
