ELC?freshmen stay unbeaten
The Estherville Lincoln Central freshmen softball team won four games over the past two days to improve to 9-0 on the season.
On Tuesday, the young Midgettes swept Okoboji 12-5 and 15-0.
In game one, Liz Brashear pitched three innings giving up five runs with two strikeouts and three walks. She didn’t give up a hit. Taylor Jensen pitched the final two innings and gave up one hit.
At the plate, Kristen King and Olivia Jensen both went 2-3. Macy Dahl, Taylor Lago, Sarah Schacherer and Maddie Burns each had one hit.
In the second game, Allie Sievert pitched three innings giving up one hit with three strikeouts and no walks. Emily Kirchner pitched one inning and struck out one batter.
At the plate, Sievert was 2-2 and Dahl was 2-3. Shelby Lappegard, Kirchner, Schacherer and Burns each had one hit.
On Wednesday against Spencer, ELC won 9-2 and 18-8.
Brashear pitched the first three innings of game one, giving up one earned run on no hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Sievert pitched two innings giving up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and four walks.
At the plate, Rachel Bates was 3-3 and Evans was 2-2. Also, King, Lago, Schacherer, Lappegard, Ashley Stinar and Burns had one hit apiece.
In game two versus Spencer, Jensen pitched three innings giving up three runs (two earned) on no hits with no strikeouts and four walks. Kirchner pitched an inning and struck out two batters. Lauren Moeller pitched an inning giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits with one strikeout and one walk.
At the plate, Dahl and Lappegard each went 2-2. Evans, Brashear, Kaitlyn Kilpatrick, Schacherer, Burns and Becca Lair each had a hit.
The ELC freshmen are at Algona on Friday.
