ELC splits with Algona

ALGONA – The Estherville Lincoln Central freshman softball team split a doubleheader with Algona on Friday as the Bulldogs won the first game 9-2 before falling to the Midgets 16-3.

Liz Brashear picked up the game one loss. She pitched four innings, allowed eight hits, walked 12 batters and struck out three.

Olivia Evans was 2-4 at the plate and Macy Dahl was 2-2. Savanna Jensen, Sarah Schacherer and Maddie Burns each added a hit for ELC.

Taylor Jensen earned the game two victory. She pitched five innings, allowed five hits, struck out five and walked one batter.

Burns was 2-3 at the plate to lead the Midgettes.

Dahl was 1-1, Evans was 1-2, Schacherer was 1-2, Lauren Moeller was 1-2, Rachel Bates was 1-3 and Savanna Jensen was 1-1.

The two teams will face off once more as the Bulldogs come to town Wednesday.
