Tornadoes blow past Midgettes, 12-3

ESTHERVILLE – The Estherville Lincoln Central baseball team fell behind early and couldn’t catch up to the Tornadoes from Storm Lake on Monday.

Storm Lake took an early 6-0 lead and kept on the pressure in the 12-3 victory.

“It snowballed early,” said ELC coach Lee Evans. ” But I wish we would’ve had a little more fight in us.”

Jeremy Hunt took the loss. He gave up seven runs (five earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and six walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Cody Prather closed out the game. He gave up five runs (two earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

ELC managed just five hits. Prather was 2-4 with a double. Hunt was 1-3 with a solo home run in the fifth inning. Dan Jones was 1-2 and Joe Clayton was 1-4.

In junior varsity play, ELC lost 6-3.

The Midgets host Cherokee in a make-up game this evening.
