The Estherville Lincoln Central Boys track team competed for the first time this season at the Lakes Conference Indoor Meet at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake on Tuesday.

“It was nice to get indoors on a cold, wet day,” said ELC coach Dick Barrett. “I was pleasantly surprised with some of our results.’

Senior Marcus Christensen had the only first-place finish as he won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 6 inches.

Alex Blomquist took fourth in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes 11 seconds while Tyler Swanson was seventh in 2:18.

Miguel Sanchez finished fourth in the 1600-meter run in 4:56.

Also Christensen placed seventh in the 550-meter dash in 7.08 seconds.

Although coach Barrett didn’t have official placings for his four shot putters, he reported the distances for each.

Gable Bonner led the way with a toss of 42 feet, 5 inches; Riley Curry threw 41 feet, 11 inches; Zach Wycoff threw 40 feet, 6 inches and Jacob Olson threw 38 feet, 5 1/2 inches.

ELC opens the outdoor season at Emmetsburg on Monday, April 4.
