ELC opens outdoor season at E’burg

EMMETSBURG – The Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Track Team came away with several top finishes at the emmetsburg Early Bird meet on Tuesday.

“We saw what our strengths and potential are,” said ELC?coach Tina Burton. “The girls also know what they have to work on and our eager to do it. All performed at the first meet the way they’re supposed to.”

In the field events, Morgan Schichtl won the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 10 inches.

Olivia Evans placed second in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches while Allie Sievert and Tayler Bodle placed fourth and fifth, respectively, as both jumped 4 feet, 8 inches.

In the long jump, Sadie Winter leapt the best for ELC with a jump of 14 feet, 10 inches.

ELC’s 4×800-meter relay team of Macy Dahl, Casey Sievert, McKenzie Woodyard and Brianna Enerson took first in 10:57.91.

Emily Kirchner was first in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.2. Ashley Weston finished first in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.91 seconds.

Also first was the sprint relay team of Maggie McCauley, Kristen King, Megan Karels and Bodle. The 4×400-meter relay team of Casey Sievert, Dahl, Woodyard and Kirchner placed first in 4:27. The second 4×400 team of Bell, Enerson, Melissa Gjerde and Bodle placed third in 5:02.34.

ELC travels to Cherokee on Friday.
