Midgets run with E’Hawks, Tigers

EMMETSBURG – The Estherville Lincoln Central Boys Track Team came away with several top finishes at the Emmetsburg Early Bird Track Meet on Thursday.

Only three teams competed in the event with Spencer joining the E’Hawks and Midgets on the track.

“I was pleased with the team’s performances,” said ELC?coach Dick Barrett. “Miguel Sanchez had an outstanding day, running career-bests in the 800 and 1600. Marcus Christensen also won two events and we swept the field events.”

All results are unofficial.

For ELC, Spenser Diekman won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 6 inches.

Gable Bonner won the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 7 inches.

Jake Olson won the discus with a throw of 117 feet, 5 inches while Brennan Nyren was second with a throw of 114 feet.

Marcus Christensen won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 6 inches and the 100-meter dash with a time of 12 seconds.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Alex Bloomquist, Tyler Swanson, Lee Bates and Miguel Sanchez took second in 8:47.8.

Ryan Vos placed first in the 400-meter dash in 54.81 seconds while Bloomquist was second in 55.9 seconds.

Sanchez won the 1600-meter run in 4:47.65 and the 800-meter run in 2:09. Bloomquist was second in 2:13 in the 800.

Christensen finished second in the 200-meter dash in 24.3 seconds.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Billy Snyder, Ty Wilson, Vos and Christensen placed third in 47.7 seconds.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Bates, Swanson, Bryce Hansen and Evan Hansen placed third.

ELC travels to Spirit Lake next Tuesday.
