Indians place third at Dutch Invitational

ORANGE CITY – The Spirit Lake Park Girls Track Team finished third at the Dutch Co-Ed Invitational on Tuesday.

Host MOC-Floyd Valley won with 186 points followed by Western Christian with 153, SLP with 93, Sheldon with 59, Unity Christian with 47 and Sioux Center with 44.

The Indians had two top finishes. Briana Brunsvold won the 3000-meter run in 13 minutes, 16 .84 seconds. Dondi Schmidt placed first in the 1500-meter run in 5:35.92 while Brunsvold placed fifth in 5:39.77.

Emily Mercer placed second in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 3 inches while Molly Hutchins was fourth with a toss of 33 feet, 9 1/4 inches. Hutchins took third in the discus with a throw of 105 feet, 3 inches.

SLP had one other second-place finish as Bailey Loveall ran the 400-meter dash in 65.69 seconds. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Kendra Stokke, Miranda Bruggeman, Kayla Herrig and Kaela Delperdang in 77.34 seconds.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Carter Hassel, Lindsey Arneson, Kayla Herrig and Miranda Bruggeman placed third in 7:49.14. Jessie Kabele was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 3 inches.

Stokke finished fourth in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches and Loveall was fifth at 4 feet, 6 inches. Stokke also was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 72.50 seconds while Katie Hamitlon was sixth in 82.34 seconds. Stokke placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.38 seconds.

Also fourth were Arneson in the 100-meter dash in 13.82, the distance medley team of Horseman, Caitlin Eckerman, Hamilton and Brunsvold in the distance medley in 4:59.66 and the 4×100-meter relay of Hassel, Arneson, Horsman and Herrig in 58.89 seconds.

Placing fifth was the 4×800-meter relay team of Schmidt, Kabele, Hiekens and Skogerboe in 11:05.69.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Loveall, Kabele, Herrig and Allison Wollmuth placed sixth in 4:48.60.
