Lakers sweep Minnesota West

The Iowa Lakes Baseball Team didn’t have much trouble with Minnesota West in Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Iowa Lakes took game won 6-1 and then Christopher Rivera pitched a three-hit shutout in a 10-0 Laker win in game two.

Bobby Seivert earned the win in game one. He went six innings giving up five hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Jaryd Marks closed out the final inning and had two strikeouts.

At the plate, Hector Gonzales was 1-2 with a double and Anthony Stewart and Terry Benne each were 1-3 with an RBI.

In game two, the Lakers took advantage of drawing several walks on offense.

He highlight was a two-run home run by Benne who was 1-2 in the game.

Michael Vine was 2-3 with a double and Luis Reyes was 1-4 with a double and an RBI.

Rivera pitched all five innings and struck out seven with no walks to earn the win.

Iowa Lakes (13-9, 2-6) will host Ellsworth this Friday and Saturday. Friday’s doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. with Saturday’s starting at 1 p.m.
