SLP wins nine events at Dutch Invite

ORANGE CITY – The Spirit Lake Park Boys Track Team won 9-of-18 events at the 2011 Dutch Relays on Tuesday. The Indians also had the individual champion in all but one running event.

Luke Kabele led the way with three top finishes as he won the 400-meter dash in 52.24 seconds, the 200-meter dash in 23.50 seconds and the 100-meter dash in 11.67 seconds.

Alec Baldwin won the 800-meter run in 1:57.79 and the 1600-meter run in 4:51.42.

Will Norris took the 200-meter run in 10:01.91, Kevin Martinson won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.08 seconds and Dalton Kelley won the discus with a toss of 146 feet, 7 inches.

The Indians won two relays with Aric Waltz, Mychal Sheridan, Kayne Feldick and Norris winning the medley in 3:46.28. The 4×200 team of Waltz, Sheridan, Martinson and Cody Poock won in 1:35.20.

Placing second were Byers in the 3200 in 10:02.15 and Feldick in the 400-meter dash in 52.50 as well as four relays.

The shuttle hurdle quartet of DJ Smith, Martinson, Poock and Waltz finished in 63.47; the 4×100 team of pat Woizeschke, Smith, Casey Spaeth and Sheridan finished in 47.78; the 4×400 team of Martinson, Waltz, Kabele and Paul Woizeschke clocked in at 3:34.69; and the 4×800 team of Kyle Anderson, Paul Woizeschke, Tanner Goetsch and Baldwin clocked in at 8:31.58.

Byers added a third place in the 800-meter run in 2:01.75 while Tanner Kroon was fourth in the shot with a toss of 40 feet, 1 inches.

Smith was fifth in the long jump at 18 feet, 2 3/4 inches and Pat Woizeschke was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 66.09.

Placing sixth were Sheridan in the 100-meter dash in 11.74 seconds; Smith in the 110 high hurdles in 17.87 seconds and Anderson in the 1600-meter run in 4:58.89.

SLP finished with 165 points while LeMars had 121, MOC-Floyd Valley had 85, Storm Lake had 79, Sheldon 65 and Western Christian 36.
