ELC netters fall to tough Tigers

The Estherville Lincoln Central Boys Tennis Team is still looking for someone to break into the win column, but Coach Tony Klein was pleased with his team’s improvement in their second outing.

“We played a lot better and showed some improvement, but there are still a lot of holes in our game,” Klein said. “I’m happy that we competed better, but we had way too many slow starts.”

In singles play, Brad Olsen lost 10-5 to Michael Gabhart; Riley Edwards lost 10-0 to Morgan Kramer; Joe Heinrichs lost 10-0 to Eric Maasen; Levi Jensen lost 10-1 to Luke Kaldahl; Tucker Olson lost 10-6 to Jordan Plueger and John Reisner lost 10-2 to Bryan LoVan.

In doubles play, Olsen and Edwards lost 10-3 to Gabhart and Maasen; Heinrichs and Jensen lost 10-0 to Kramer and Kaldahl and Olson and Reisner lost 10-4 to Plueger and LoVan.

In junior varsity play, Spencer won 9-0.

Taylor Fernholz lost 8-6, Tim Soper lost 9-7, Thomas Bortvit lost 8-1, Hunter Brown lost 8-0, Colten Christensen lost 8-0 and Payton Jaquith lost 8-2.

In doubles, Fernholz and Soper lost 8-0, Bortvit and Brown lost 8-0 and Christensen and Jaquith lost 6-1.

In exhibition play, Brandon Sharar lost 8-6.
