SPIRIT?LAKE – Asking Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Track Coach Tina Burton what to highlight about Tuesday’s Spirit Lake Co-Ed meet was too much to ask-there were too many ELC highlights.
“I had fun watching the girls tonight,” said Burton. “They had fun meeting their goals and then setting new ones. I’m looking for the to meet more goals in the next meet.”
ELC won five events on the night and finished with 103 points to place third.
Spencer won the meet with 157 points followed by host Spirit Lake Park with 144. North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted placed fourth with 70 points followed by Okoboji with 44, Clay Central-Everly with 27, South O’Brien with 22 and Forest Ridge with 20.
Ashley Weston won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.12 seconds. She also anchored the winning shuttle hurdle relay team of Sadie Winter, Olivia Evans and Megal Karels which finished in 1:11.99.
Allie Sievert won the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches while Evans was fourth at 4 feet, 6 inches.
The 4×800-meter relay team took 10 seconds off its last time to win in 10:25.95. That foursome is Macy Dahl, Casey Sievert, McKenzie Woodyard and Brianna Enerson.
Also winning was the sprint medley team of Winter, Maggie McCauley, Emily Kirchner and Casey Sievert in 2:00.22.
Kirchner took second in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.89 while Casey Sievert finished third in 1:01.99.
Winter placed second in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 10 inches.
Morgan Schichtl placed third in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet.
Also third was the 4×400-meter relay team of Tayler Bodle, Dahl, Woodyard and Megan Karels in 4:37.93.
Placing fourth was the distance medley relay team of Molly Wittmer, Maggie McCauley, Bodle and Mikenzie Bell in 4:58.64.
Rachel Bates placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:16.09. Paige Guge was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 29.21 seconds. Enerson was fifth in the 1500-meter run in 6:07.43. Also fifth was Megan Karels in the 300-meter run in 15:01.23.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Guge, Sheila Eggers, Melissa Gjerde and Alicia Jorgenson was fifth in 2:01.99.
Placing sixth was the 4×100-meter relay team of Wittmer, Bates, Kimmie Pouykham and Gjerde in 60.05 seconds.
ELC travels to Spencer on Friday.
