NSKAR tested at SL Co-ed
SPIRIT LAKE – The North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted faced stiff competition at the Spirit Lake Co-ed meet on Tuesday s the newly combined team finished seventh with 54.5 points.
“it was a great day for a track meet,” said A-R coach Robert Zotz. “There is always great competition at Spirit Lake and the boys’ team never backed down. We look forward to our next meet and getting some guys back from injuries.
NSKAR’s Travis Hantelman had the lone top finish, but it was a good one. Hantelman sent a meet record in the 400-meter dash as he ran the race in 51.15 seconds. The previous record was 51.2 seconds set by Okoboji’s Dave Stein in 1988.
Hantelman also had a good day in the high jump where he leaped 6 feet, 4 inches, but Clay Central-Everly’s Jared Schoelerman cleared 6 feet, 5 inches to win the event as Hantelman finished second.
Hantelman also anchored the second-place 4×100-meter relay team of Jacob Braddock, Tyler Feddersen and Spencer Clausen as they finished in 45.76 seconds.
Hantelman finished third in the 200-meter dash in 23.45 seconds while Feddersen was fifth in 25.39 seconds.
Also third was the 4×800-meer relay team of Evan Hagebock, Brian Becker, Matt Adams and Jake Adams which finished in 9:09.38.
The medley relay team of Jerry Clark, Zach Ditsworth, Jake Adams and Matt Adams finished fourth in 4:00.89. Also fourth was the 4×400-meter relay team of Jake Adams, Matt Adams, Hagebock and Jerry Clark in 3:48.25
Zach Johnson placed fifth in the 3200-meter run in 11:43.43. Also fifth was Austin Bierstedt in the 110-meter high hurdles in 18.43 seconds and Feddersen tied for fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.96 seconds.
The NSKAR 4×200-meter relay team of Brett Deitering, Ditsworth, Braddock and Jake Adams finished sixth in 1:43.69.
