SLO netters fall to 1-2
The Spirit Lake-Okoboji Boys Tennis Team dropped its last two meets after opening the season with a win over Estherville Lincoln Central.
On Friday, April 8, SL-O lost 7-2 to Storm Lake and on Monday, SL-O lost 9-0 to LeMars.
“These were our two toughest matches of the year,” said SL-O coach Dan Taylor. “Both of these teams brought back the most varsity experience in the conference, and have the strongest players at the top of the lineup. And they were both on the road with no practice time leading up to them.”
In singles play versus Storm Lake, Brandon Stoll lost 10-1, Wes Bergquist lost 11-10(7-5); Brett Kraus lost 10-8, Jordan Richey lost 11-10 (7-1); Joe Oldson lost 10-4 and Trystan Wiedow won 10-7.
In doubles, Stoll and Bergquist won 10-5, Kraus and Oldson lost 10-7 and Richey and Connor Rowley lost 10-7.
Against LeMars, Stoll lost 10-1, Bergquist lost 10-8, Kraus lost 10-5, Richey lost 10-3, Olson lost 10-0 and Wiedow lost 10-4. In doubles, Stoll and Bergquist lost 10-2, Kraus and Richey lost 10-5 and Oldson and Tyler Bice lost 10-3.
