Spirit Lake Park dominates home meet

SPIRIT LAKE – It couldn’t have gone much better for the Spirit Lake Park Boys Track Team in its home meet on Tuesday.

Coach Brad Travis highlighted the night’s meet.

“Yet another great night for our boys. It was highlighted by 47 PR’s (Personal Records), one freshman 4×800 record, five meet records, and one school record,” he said.

Alec Baldwin set the school and meet record in the 1600-meter run. His first-place time of 4 minutes, 15.41 seconds also is currently the top team in all classes for this season.”

The Indians placed first overall with 162 points.

Also setting meet records were Will Norris in the 3200-meter run in 10:03.03; Keith Byers in the 800-meter run in 1:59.10, Kevin Martinson in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.55 seconds and the 4×400-meter relay team of Martinson, Luke Kabele, Kayne Feldick and Baldwin clocking in at 3:27.15.

The freshman record came from the first-place 4×800-meter relay team of Kyle Anderson Paul Woizeschke, Tanner Goetsch and Pat Woizeschke in 8:55.39

Other firsts for Spirit Lake include Dalton Kelley’s throw of 144 feet, 6 inches in the discus, the medley relay team of DJ Smith, Casey Spaeth, Mychal Sheridan and Will Norris clocking in at 3:51.78 and the shuttle hurdle team of Smith, Martinson, Cody Poock and Aric Waltz running a time of 62.89 seconds.

Second place finishes include Byers in the 3200 in 10:42.34, Feldick in the 400-meter run in 53.07 seconds, Kabele in the 200-meter dash in 23.40 seconds and in the 100-meter dash in 11.45 seconds and the 4×200-meter relay team of Kabele, Andrew Broocks, Martinson and Sheridan in 1:34.55.

Placing fourth were Kyle Anderson in the 1600-meter run in 5:06.49, Paul Woizeschke in the 800-meter run in 2:10.91; Waltz in the 400-meter dash in 55.03 seconds, Poock in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.78 seconds and the 4×100-meter relay team of Waltz, pock, Broocks and Sheridan in 46.60 seconds.

Smith placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.78 seconds and in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet.
