Lago leads ELC to win
HULL – Estherville’s Lincoln Central’s Taylor Lago notched a 48 to lead the Midgettes to wins over Emmetsburg and Western Christian in Lakes Conference golf action on Monday.
“Taylor Lago shot a best of 48 – she just came out this year and hasn’t played for a number of years but she is doing a great job and really working hard,” said ELC coach Kevin Richardson. “She has done well in the first meets but broke out tonight and was medalist which was impressive.”
Taylor Heinrichs also shot a good round of 51 while Paige Hoffmeyer carded a 59 and Aryn Ward shot a 62 to complete ELC’s winning score of 220. Lago and Heinrichs to medalist and runner-up medalist honors, respectively.
“Taylor Heinrichs had a good night a season best 51,” said Richardson. “She played well and hit the ball well even with the weather conditions. Paige Hoffmeyer has been very consistent this year and is a big part of us being 3-1 in the conference right now. As a team we had a very good night in not so good conditions.”
Emmetsburg came in eight strokes behind ELC with a 228 while host Western Christian shot a 232.
Non-counting ELC scores were a 66 from Raeanna Muller and a 71 from Tia Bernholtz.
In junior varsity play, ELC’s Andrea Lunning shot a 52 to lead ELC to victory.
The Midgettes shot a 282 compared to Emmetsburg’s 313. Western Christian did not have a full junior varsity squad.
Rounding out ELC’s scoring were Kayla Evans with a 69, Lauren Moeller with a 77 and a choice of 84s from Savanna Johnson and Cattie Tvedt.
