Spoo, Brashear lead ELC to wins

With Estherville Lincoln Central’s top two players both shooting under 40, the Midgets picked up a pair of Lakes Conference wins on their home course Monday.

Logan Spoo shot a 36 to medal while Max Brashear shot a 39 to earn runner up medalist.

ELC edged Emmetsburg 171 to 173 while Western Christian was three strokes back at 176.

“It was great to see Logan and Max play well today,” said ELC coach Jeff Soper. “Their games are starting to come into good shape. We need to get our third and fourth scores down a little bit more and we will become very competitive.”

Rounding out ELC’s scoring were Tucker Milburn with a 47 and a choice of 49s from Justin Harris and Corey Reeves for the final counting. Adam Reiter shot a 51.

ELC (3-2 overall, 3-1 in the Lakes) hosts North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted on Thursday.

In junior varsity play, Emmetsburg came out on top shooting a 187 followed by Western Christian with a 188 and ELC with a 193.

Clay Tredway led ELC with a 45 while Hunter Gifford had a 48, Chris Seylar had a 49 and Kyle Thompson shot a 51.

Non-counting scores were a 54 from Matt Burrell and a 60 by Jeff Perkins.
