SPENCER – The Spirit Lake/Okoboji Girls Tennis Team had little trouble with Spencer in a 9-0 sweep on Monday.

SLO coach Bob O’Hara said he saw a lot of improvement with several players.

“Alli Gerking had her best match of the season as did Hannah Coenen, Rachael Westergard, and Holly Seemann,” said O’Hara. “It’s great to have so many gifted athletes on the team.”

In singles play, Aubry Kolegraff won 10-3 over Sara Van Berkum; Gerking won 10-1 over Sara Van Kley; K.J. Veldman won 10-0 over Bradi Baschke; Coenen won 10-1 over Ann Magnuson; Westergard won 10-1 over Nicole Staples and Seemann won 10-1 over Amy McLaury.

“I’m also happy with our doubles play today,” said O’Hara. “Alli and Aubry are really starting to gel, although they are not in peak form by any means, they had far fewer errors than in their first three matches.”

Gerking and Kolegraff won 10-1 over Van Berkum and Van Kley.

“I was really pleased with the way Rachael Westergard and Jamie Kohlhaase played at No. 2 doubles,” said O’Hara. “Once the match got going they really took charge and played well.”

Westergard and Kohlhaase won 10-2 over Baschke and Staples.

In the third doubles, Coenen and Veldman won 10-1 over Magnuson and McLaury.

Spirit Lake-Okoboji hosts Estherville Lincoln Central on Monday.
