ELC, Spirit Lake squeeze in golf meet

By Staff | Apr 27, 2011

SPIRIT LAKE – The Estherville Lincoln Central and Spirit Lake girls’ golf teams took advantage of a break in the weather Tuesday to get on the golf course.

Spirit Lake won the Lakes Conference dual meet 185 to 226.

The Indians swept medalist honors as Leah Hilpipre shot a 40 and Maureen Owens carded a 45.

For ELC, Taylor Heinrichs and Raeanna Muller each shot 55s, Aryn Ward shot a 56 and Rachel Lausen shot a 60.

Non-counting scores were a 61 by Paige Hoffmeyer and a 72 by Andrea Lunning and a 76 by Taylor Lago.

“As a team we are hanging around that 220-228 mark and have been consistent there,” said ELC coach Kevin Richardson. “Individually we just haven’t had enough time on the course to really start getting solid scoring. It is good we have 4-6 different girls step up each night to post a counting score; but as individuals we need to settle in and start getting consistent scoring.

“Taylor Heinrichs, Raeanna Muller, and Aryn Ward had nice rounds on a wet chilly night,” he said. “A few of the other girls just happen to have one or two really bad holes that inflated their round.”

Rounding out the Spirit Lake scores were a 49 by Whitney Berkland and a 51 from Emily Ayres. Non-counting scores were a 55 from Tabbi Wendelboe, a 59 from Mackenzie Veldman and a 60 by Kaylee Trittle.
