Spirit Lake Park runs to first
MILFORD – The Spirit Lake Park Boys Track Team won six events on the way to a team victory at the Okoboji Relays Monday.
The Indians finished with 124 points followed by Sioux Center with 103, Okoboji with 102, South O’Brien with 65, Sioux Central with 48, North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted with 44, Sibley-Ocheyedan with 42 and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn with 28.
Keith Byers won two events. His time of 4 minutes, 31.07 seconds set a meet record in the 1600-meter run. He also won the 800-meter run in 2:06.95.
Alec Baldwin set a meet record in the 3200-meter run with his winning time of 9:51.23.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Luke Kabele, Aric Waltz, Mychal Sheridan and Kevin Martinson won in 8:32.25.
The 4×800-meter relay team of Martinson, Will Norris, Kayne Feldick and Tanner Goetsch won in 3:32.25.
Also first was the medley relay team of DJ Smith, Casey Spaeth, Mychal Sheridan and Baldwin in 3:49.098.
Placing second were Feldick in the 800-meter run in 2:07.81, Paul Woizeschke in the 1600-meter run in 5:01.85 and Dalton Kelley in the discus with a throw of 150 feet, 8 inches.
Kabele took third in the 200-meter dash in 23.86 seconds while Feldick placed third in the 400-meter dash in 52.26 seconds. Martinson placed third also with his time of 56.65 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles.
Tanner Kroon finished third in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 11 inches while Kelley was sixth at 38 feet, 4 1/2 inches.
Waltz took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 60.33 seconds. Also fourth was the shuttle hurdle relay team of DJ Smith, pat Woizeschke, Logan Lynn and Waltz in 1:06.67.
Kyle Anderson placed fifth in the 3200-meter run in 11:23.30. The 4×100-meter relay team of Pat Woizeschke, Paul Woizeschke, Spaeth and Lynn finished fifth in 49.66 seconds. The 4×400-meter relay team of Martinson, Waltz, Zach Garland and Sheridan placed fifth in 3:43.11.
Smith took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 1/4 inch.
