Midgets continue to show improvement

SPENCER – Coach Tony Klein said the Estherville Lincoln Central boys’ tennis team continues to improve.

However, Spencer proved too tough as the Tigers swept ELC 9-0 on Thursday.

In singles play, Brad Olsen lost 6-0, 6-0 to Michael Gabhart; Riley Edwards lost 6-0, 6-0 to Morgan Kramer; John Reisner lost 6-0, 6-1 to Eric Maasen; Tim Soper lost 6-0, 6-0 to Luke Kaldahl; Levi Jensen lost 6-3, 6-3 to Jordan Plueger and Joe Heinrichs lost 6-1, 6-1 to Bryan LoVan.

In doubles, Olsen and Edwards lost 6-3, 6-4 to Gabhart and Maasen; Reisner and Jensen lost 6-0, 6-1 to Kramer and Plueger and Soper and Heinrichs lost 6-1, 6-0 to Kaldahl and LoVan.

Coach Klein said he was very happy with the doubles play of Olsen and Edwards.

In junior varsity play, the Tigers again swept ELC. Look for JV results in Saturday’s Daily News.

ELC hosts Storm Lake today.
