ELC takes third at Sheryl Maahs Relays
SPIRIT LAKE – Estherville Lincoln Central placed third at the Sheryl Maahs Relays in Spirit Lake with 85 points.
Algona won with 116 points followed by host SLP with 91. Emmetsburg placed fourth with 53 points while Martin County West had 47.
ELC coach Tina Burton highlighted a few of the improvements on a night when the weather was perfect for a track meet.
The 4×400-meter relay team of Emily Kirchner, Macy Dahl, Casey Sievert and McKenzie Woodyard ran a season-best time of 4 minutes, 18.98 seconds to place first. Burton said Kirchner had a seasonbest split of 59.97 seconds in the event.
The sprint medley team of Alicia Jorgenson, Maggie McCauley, Casey Sievert and Kirchner also won in 1:57.08.
Sievert and Kirchner went 1-2 in the 400-meter dash, with Sievert finishing in 61.88 seconds and Kirchner in 63.08 seconds.
Also, Dahl won the 800-meter run in 2:33.14 with Woodyard finishing third in 2:34.69.
Sadie Winter won the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 1/2 inch. Morgan Schichtl took second in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 1 1/2 inches.
Also second was the 4×800-meter relay team of Dahl, Sievert, Woodyard and Brianna Enerson in 10:14.80
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Winter, Megan Karels, Irlanda Cabrales and Weston placed second in 72.61 seconds.
Ashley Weston placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.09 seconds while Winter was fifth in 17.33 seconds.
Rachel Bates ran a person-best time in the 400-meter hurdles of 1:15.88 to place third.
Paige Guge finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 29.07 seconds.
Allie Sievert placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Alicia Jorgenson, Molly Wittmer, Maggie McCauley and Guge placed fourth in 1:59.08.
Also fourth was the distance medley relay team of Wittmer, Guge, Bodle and Lissy Gjerde in 4:57.3.
ELC travels to Emmetsburg on Thursday
