CHEROKEE – The Spirit Lake/Okoboji girls’ tennis team swept Cherokee 9-0 in Lakes Conference action on Monday.

In singles play, Alli Gerking won 10-0 over Sarah Rueble; Aubry Kolegraff won 10-4 over Denise Freed; K.J. Veldman beat Amber Haupert 10-1; Hannah Coenen defeated Anna Lehrach 10-4; Rachael Westergard defeated Taylor Meyerhofer 10-0 and Holly Seeman defeated Emily Estala 10-3.

In doubles, Gerking and Kolegraff defeated Rueble and Freed 10-1; Coenen and Westergard defeated Haupert and Estala 10-2 and Seeman and Veldman defeated Lehrach and Meyerhofer 10-2.

“I thought Alli and Aubry played their best doubles of the season,” said SLO coach Bob O’Hara. “They moved well and volleyed better than any meet this season. Our serving was better than it had been in earlier meets.

“As a team I think we’re serving better as the season advances. We’ve been working hard at picking a higher target and not hitting as many serves in the net.”

SLO is at the Lakes Conference Tournament in Spencer today. Play begins at 9:30 a.m.
