SLO netters defeat Cherokee, 7-2

SPIRIT LAKE – The Spirit Lake/Okoboji Boys Tennis Team had enough to defeat Cherokee 7-2 in Lakes Conference play on Monday.

Coach Dan Taylor highlighted his team’s doubles play as they won all three matches.

Brandon Stoll and Wes Bergquist won 10-5 over Alex Struck and Matthew Enerlin; Brett Kraus and Jordan Richey won 10-3 over Brett Walker and Gabe Conley; and Tyler Bice and Joe Oldson won 11-9 over Connor Ogren and Dillon Drefke.

“Brandon and Wes lost to this team at the conference tournament two days ago, but were in control of the match throughout today, coming away with a convincing victory,” said Taylor. “Jordan and Brett worked very well together tonight, and Joe and Tyler, after getting into a 1-7 hole, pulled it together and made a huge comeback

In singles play, Stoll lost 10-0 to Struck; Bergquist defeated Enerlin 10-7; Kraus defeated Walker 10-2; Bice defeated Ogren 10-4; Bice lost to Ogren 10-4; Richey defeated Conley 10-3 and Trystan Wiedow defeated Drefke 10-4.
