Disappointing day for ELC at conference

OKOBOJI – After finishing as Lakes Conference co-champions in dual play this season, the Estherville Lincoln Central Boys Golf Team had a disappointing day at the Lakes Conference Tournament on Monday.

The Midgets tied for sixth Cherokee for sixth with 361.

“I thought was probably shot our best round of the year Saturday,” said ELC coach Jeff Soper, referring to the LeMars Invitational. “I know we’re disappointed with how w played. All felt they left some strokes on the course.”

ELC’s Logan Spoo had the best round for the Midgets shooting an 85, but he was four strokes off the pace to earn all-conference honors.

Justin Harris shot an 88 while Max Brashear finished with a 92. ELC had a choice of 96s from Chris Seylar and Corey Reeves for the final counting score. Tucker Milburn shot a non-counting score of 97.

Spencer lived up to expectations in winning the conference title with a 305. Spirit Lake finished second with a 324 followed by Storm Lake with 331, Emmetsburg with 337, LeMars with 35, Cherokee and ELC each with 361 and Western Christian shot a 365.

ELC now prepares for the Class 2A sectional meet at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park on Friday. Play start at 10 a.m.
