Four all-Lakes events for fourth place

EMMETSBURG – Estherville Lincoln Central earned all-conference honors in four events as they finished fourth at the Lakes Conference meet on Monday.

Western Christian won the meet with 156 points followed by Spencer with 138.5, LeMars with 123, ELC with 85, Spirit Lake Park with 82, Emmetsburg with 69.5, Storm Lake with 48 and Cherokee with 31.

ELC won only one event as the medley relay team of Alicia Jorgenson, Maggie McCauley, Casey Sievert and Emily Kirchner finished the medley relay in 1 minute, 56.11 seconds.

“The girls new they had to be flawless,” said ELC coach Tina Burton.

The next four times finished less than 2 seconds behind ELC.

ELC’s other all-conference relay was the 4×800-meter relay team of Macy Dahl, Sievert, Kenzie Woodyard and Brianna Enerson. They placed second in 10:25.

Dahl and Allie Sievert earned individual all-conference honors. Dahl placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:33.23 While Sievert leaped 5 feet in the high jump to place second.

Morgan Schichtl finished third in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

“Our individual events really helped us out with two people that can score points in the long jump and good results from the high jump and shot put,” said Burton.

Also third was the 4×400-meter relay team of Kirchner, Dahl, Casey Sievert and Woodyard in 4:17.29.

Sadie Winter placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 6 inches. Karels also leaped that distance to place fifth.

Kirchner placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.13 while Casey Sievert placed seventh in 1:04.15.

Ashley Weston placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.81 seconds while Winter was seventh in 16.87. Rachel Bates placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:16.93.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Paige Guge, Molly Wittmer, McCauley and Jorgenson placed sixth in 54.67 seconds. The same quartet placed sixth in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:57.67.

The distance medley relay team of Wittmer, Guge, Tayler Bodle and Melissa Gjerde placed sixth in 5:04.39.

ELC travels to Cherokee for the regional meet on Thursday.
