Laker women unable to hold on at home

Iowa Lakes was its own enemy in a 70-63 loss to the Briar Cliff Junior Varsity on Monday.

After leading 30-28 at half against the Charges, before falling behind in the second half.

Iowa Lakes struggled from the free throw line, making 13-of-25 while the visitors were 23-of-30. The Lakers also had 24 turnovers.

Shaunte Tucker led the Lakers with 22 points and seven rebounds. Tayler Boroson had 13 points, Alissa Johnson had nine points Shaberka Edwards had eight points, Allie Kemeny and Allyson Sherden each had three points, Nijala Johnson had two points and Sobrina West had one. Nijala Johnson also had five steals and four assists and Alissa Johnson had four assists.

Lake Region State College 72, Iowa Lakes 69

Iowa Lakes was unable to hold onto a lead at home as the Lakers lost 72-69 to Lake Region State College Junior Varsity on Thursday.

Iowa Lakes led 36-30 at the break with Lake Region surging past the Lakers in the second half.

The Lakers shot better from the free throw line, making 20-of-31, but they had 18 turnovers compared to just nine by the visitors.

Iowa Lakes did have five players in double digits led by Natasha Kindred with 13 while Alissa Johnson had 12, Leah Courtney had 11 and Shaunte Tucker and Macy Dahl each had 10. Allyson Sherden had five points, Tayler Boroson had four, Shabreka Edwards had three and Nijila Johnson had one.

The Lakers finished with 16 assists led by Alissa Johnson with seven.

Iowa Lakes (3-10 overall) is home against Southwestern Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday as the Lakers wrap up the first half of the season.

Lakers drop Thankgiving weekend games

The Iowa Lakes women suffered a pair of setbacks the Thanksgiving weekend of Nov. 29, 30.

On Friday, the Lakers lost 86-56 to Hutchinson Community College and then lost 89-61 to Dodge City Community College on Saturday.

The Lakers trailed 41-21 at halftime to Hutchinson.

Tayler Boroson led Iowa Lakes with 10 points, Shaunte Tucker had seven, Shabreka Edwards, Nijala Johnson and Natasha Kindred each had six points, Allyson Sherden had five, Sobrina West had three and Alissa Johnson had 10.

The Lakers shot 10-of-13 from the free throw line, but were just 15-of-45 from the floor.?Hutchinson shot 55.45 percent (31-57) from the field.

Against Dodge City, Iowa Lakes trailed 49-38 at the break. Scoreing for the lakers was unavaible.
