Brown scores 19 in SL victory

SPIRIT LAKE – Billy Brown scored 19 points snagged six steals with four assists while Alec Henrickson scored 15 as Spirit Lake defeated Okoboji 69-48 last Saturday.

The Indians led 17-13 after one quarter and 32-24 at halftime. They stretched the lead to 54-34 by the start of the fourth quarter. Tyler Alger chipped in 12 points while Alex Pringnitz had nine, Caleb Jennings and Trevor Smith each had six and Blake Enderson had two points.

Spirit Lake defeats Cherokee

Alec Henrickson scored 28 points to lead Spirit Lake to a 70-44 victory over Cherokee on Friday. Trevor Smith tossed in 14 points while Billy Brown had 13.

Tyler Faist led Cherokee with 26 points.

Spirit Lake (11-3 overall, 6-3 in the Lakes Conference) is at Western Christian on Tuesday and at Estherville Lincoln Central on Friday.

Geelan records triple-double

CORWITH – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire had little trouble in defeating Corwith-Wesley-Luverne on Friday, Jan. 17.

The host Panthers kept the game close in the first quarter, trailing just 19-16. But GTRA outscored CWL 26-6 in the second quarter to take a 45-22 half-time lead. The Titans stretched the lead to 59-36 after three quarters while cruising to the 80-51 victory.

Andy Geelan recorded a triple-double in the win with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He also had five steals. Geelan was 13-of-17 from the floor.

Connor Sturgill tossed in 18 points while Tayllor Enderson and Mason McGrauth each had 10 points. Lane Reiman finished with eight points, Noah Stukey had four and Nick Josephson and Cole Hagedorn each had two.

The Titans finished with 29 assists. McGrauth had six and Reiman and STukey each had five. Reiman also had four steals.

North Union falls to Truman

TRUMAN, Minn. – North Union fell to Truman, Minn., 68-45 in an across-the-border matchup on Tuesday.

Truman led 31-20 at halftime.

Jacob Braddock led North Union with 13 points while Aric Runge finished with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Colin Runksmeier had nine points and five steals. Braden Ortman had seven points, Alex Krantz had four and Nathan Eaton had two.

Henrickson score 29 in SL?win

SPIRIT LAKE – Alec Henrickson scored 29 points, Billy Brown had 20 and Trevor Smith had 17 as Spirit Lake defeated Storm Lake 73-53 on Tuesday.

The Indians jumped out to a 24-13 lead after one quarter and led 36-26 at halftime and 54-38 after three quarters.

Henrickson was 9-of-18 from the field including 4-of-8 from 3-point range as well as 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Brown also had five assists and three steals while Smith had four assists and three steals. Sam Harms finished with five points and Alex Pringnitz had two points and nine rebounds.

Spirit Lake (10-3 overall, 5-3 in the Lakes Conference) was home against Cherokee on Friday. The Indians are at Western Christian on Tuesday and at Estherville on Friday next week.

SL?cruises past Okoboji, 63-48

SPIRIT LAKE – Spirit Lake jumped out to a 19-4 first-quarter lead and cruised to a 63-48 victory over Okoboji last Saturday. Emma Dau led the Indians with 19 points including 11-of-16 from the free throw line. She also had nine rebounds and five assists. Bailey Loveall contributed 15 points and eight rebounds. Joie Veldman finished with 11 points, Abbey Horsman had eight, Bailee newman had six and Mackenzie Thate and Jessie Kabele each had two.

Dau scores 17 to lead Indians

LEMARS – Emma Dau scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting to help the Spirit Lake girls defeat LeMars 58-34 on Friday, Jan. 17. The Indians led 13-6 after one quarter, 28-12 at halftime and 47-24 after three quarters.

Carly Ites chiped in nine points, Joie Veldman had eight, Bailey Loveall had six, Katy Brevik, Bailee Newman and Mackenzie Thate each had four points and Abbey Horsman and Carter Hassel each had three points.

GTRA edges Sioux Central

SIOUX RAPIDS – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire edged past Sioux Central 41-40 in a non-conference game on Tuesday.

GTRA led 10-9 after one quarter, but trailed 17-13 at halftime and 27-26 after three quarters.

Brooke Hoffman was 4-of-7 from 3-point range as she led the Titans with 13 points. She also had a team-high five rebounds. Grace Skattebo finished with 1 points including 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Lauren Flaharty contributed five points, four steals and four assists. Marly Bakken had five points, four steals and two assists. Morgan McGrauth, Alex Oleson and Emily Moran each had two points.

Indians blow past Tornadoes

SPIRIT LAKE – The Spirit Lake girls jumped out to a 47-7 first-half lead and cruised to a 64-16 win over Storm Lake on Tuesday.

Emma Dau led the Indians with 12 points while Carter Hassel finished with 111 points.

Spirit Lake (11-3 overall, 7-1 in the Lakes Conference) was home against Cherokee on Friday. The Indians are at Western Christian on Tuesday and at Estherville on Friday next week.
