Laker women drop two more games

KEOKUK, IOWA FALLS – The Iowa Lakes women were looking to get back in the win column as they went on the road against Southeaster last Saturday.

But the host Blackhawks prevailed in a 64-57 victory.

The Lakers trailed by just one at halftime 34-33.

Shabreka Edwards led the Lakers with 13 points off the bench. Leah Courtney tossed in 12 points while Shaunte Tucker had 10, Alissa Johnson had nine, Macy Dahl had six, Tayler Boroson had three and Sobrina West and Allyson Shereden each had two points.

Edwards also pulled down a team-high eight-rebounds. Johnson finished with seven rebounds and seven assists.

Champale Grays led Southeastern with 16 points.

On Wednesday, Iowa Lakes lost 62-53 to Ellsworth. The Lakers trailed 24-21 at halftime. Laker stats were unavailable. Justin Thigpen led Ellsworth with 16 points.

Iowa Lakes (4-18 overall) travels to Southwestern Community College today. The Lakers are home against Ellsworth on Wednesday.
