Lakers stumble against Panthers
IOWA FALLS – The 18th-ranked Iowa Lakes men’s basketball team had a light week, but lost their lone game to Ellsworth, 79-70, on Wednesday.
The Panthers led 34-30 at halftime. Ellsworth scored over half of its points from the free throw line where they made 42-of-46 for 91.3 percent.
The Panthers shot just 34.7 percent (17-of-49) from the field while the Lakers shot 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the field and made 19-of-27 (70.4 percent) from the free throw line.
Latrell Love led the Lakers with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Deondra Parks finished with 16 points, but was just 5-of-20 from the field. Diamontae McKinley finished with nine points while Emmanuel Golong had eight, Tate Harmon had seven, Justin Sloter had five and Bill Makris and Colton Neff each had two points.
Tonnie Collier led Ellsworth with 30 points.
Iowa Lakes (13-6 overall, 4-2 in the conference) travels to Creston to take on Southwestern Community College today. The Lakers host Ellsworth in a rematch on Wednesday.
