Broncos too much for Warriors

ALGONA – The North Union boys saw their season come to an end in a 59-36 loss to Belmond-Klemme in Class 1A playoff action on Friday.

The Broncos jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 16-4 after one quarter to put the game away early.

North Union’s offense picked up in the second quarter, but it couldn’t match Belmond-Klemme, which led 33-17 at the break.

The Broncos hit three 3-pointers in the third quarter to help extend their lead and cruise to the victory.

Colin Runksmeier led the warriors with nine points while Jacob Braddock and Aric Runge each had seven points. Kaleb Olson chipped in four points while Eythan Blair and Alex Krantz each had two.

Colin Lane led the Broncos (19-3) with 15 points while Court Christiansen had 11.

North Union ends it season with a 5-19 record.

Three Warriors seniors played in their final game-5-11 guard Jacob Braddock, 6-3 post Aric Runge and 5-11 guard Kaleb Olson.
