Tritons too much for Lakers
Iowa Lakes (4-12) was swept in four games by Des Moines Area this past weekend.
The Bears won 6-3 and 5-2 on Saturday and 11-3 and 4-3 on Sunday over the Lakers.
In the first game, the Lakers were out-hit 11-6 with Paul Howarth going 3-4 with two RBIS and Pat Gough going 2-4 with an RBI. Kyle Thomas went six innings in the loss, giving up six runs (four earned) on 10 hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
In the second game, the Lakers mustered just four hits with one each by Howarth, Sean Alp, Luis Sterling and Manny Deleon. Ryan Mose pitched four innings in the loss giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
In Sunday’s first game, Iowa Lakes 3-0 before DMACC erupted with eight runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Lakers again had four hits with Deleon going 2-3 with an RBI and Tanner Johnson going 1-3 with two RBIs. Jesus Brito pitched 4 2/3 innings in the loss. He gave up six earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
In the second game, Iowa Lakes tied the game at 3-3 with two runs in the top of the fourth, but DMACC scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth.
The Lakers out-hit DMACC 8-5. Sterling and Deleon each went 2-4. Austin Orvis took the loss as he pitched the final three innings.
