ELC girls play tough course at Cherokee

CHEROKEE – Without its two seniors, the Estherville Lincoln Central’s nearly all freshmen team received some valuable experience at Cherokee on Friday.

Spencer won the three-team meet with a 202 followed by Cherokee with 289 and ELC with 312.

“We played at Cherokee, which is a very tough course; the hills, narrow fairways and water,” said ELC coach Kevin Richardson. “There is a lot to get into trouble here and there are always high numbers. We had five freshmen and a sophomore playing our varsity tonight. I know our scores were high but the girls are working hard and it is a lot of pressure playing varsity number 1, 2, and 3 as freshmen.”

Megan Brunskill led ELC with a 58 while Jordan Origer shot a 74 and Olivia Truog and Gracie Schnell each carded 45s.

Non-counting scores were a 103 by Suzy Anderson and a 109 by Paige Stoliker.

Spencer swept medalist honors as Lauren Sather shot a 47 and Rachel Sather a 48.
