Laker baseball evens record at 16-16

The Iowa Lakes baseball team split its final two games against North Iowa Area last Saturday and then swept Anoka-Ramsey in a doubleheader on Monday as the Lakers evened their record at 16-16 for the season.

The Lakers, who had swept NIACC on Friday, took the first game 8-4 on Saturday after spotting the visitors three runs in the top of the first inning.

Iowa Lakes pounded out 13 hits in the contest with Luis Sterling going 3-4. Sean Alp, Tanner Johnson and Blake Rogers each had two hits.

Jesus Brito evened his record at 3-3 as he went eight innings giving up three earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in the win.

The Lakers’ offense suffered in the second game as they lost 5-1 and were out-hit 7-5.

Blake Rogers took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks in four innings of work.

Johnson went 2-3 at the plate.

Iowa Lakes is on the road today and Sunday in Creston against Southwestern. The Lakers end the season with four games against Iowa Central next Friday and Saturday.
