ELC shoots best score of season

SPIRIT LAKE – Estherville Lincoln Central shot its best score of the season, but ELC still fell to Spirit Lake 211 to 224 on Tuesday.

The Midgets’ Tia Bernholtz took medalist honors with a 45 while the Indians’ Taylor Sieperda was runner-up medalist with a 52.

Other ELC scores were a 57 by Lauren Moeller, a 60 by Olivia Truog and a choice of 62s from Jordan Origer and Gracie Schnell. Non-counting score was a 78 by Megan Brunskill.

“The girls golfed the best they have all year,” said ELC coach Kevin Richardson. “Tia, Olivia and Gracie all shot their low score of the year. The girls played well and it is good for them to see their improvement this year.”

For Spirit Lake, Kristen Salzwedel, Callan Hinn and Ellie Katzfey all shot 53s. Non-counting scores were a 57 by Lauren Sandison and a 60 by Macy Smith.

In junior varsity play, ELC had three golfers playing. Paige Stoliker shot a 61, Maddie Rimmer a 66 and Suzy Anderson a 70.
