McCoy leads SLP contingent to state

ORANGE CITY – Spirit Lake Park’s Jenna McCoy qualified for next week’s Class 3A meet in four individual events leading the Indians’ at Thursday’s district meet in Orange City.

McCoy qualified in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles, high jump and long jump. Her qualifying times and distances were, respectively, 16.74 seconds, 1:10.92, 5 feet and 17 feet, 1 1/4 inches.

The Indians had a second qualifier in three of those events as Emma Dau also qualified in the long jump (16 feet, 1/2 inch) and the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches), while Miranda Brueggeman qualified in the 400-hurdles 1:11.76.

Dondi Schmidt also qualified in both long distances races with her time of 5:07.07 in the 1500-meter run and 10:59.40 in the 3000-meter run.

The Indian’s lone qualifying relay was the distance medley team of Taryn Ruden, Brueggeman, Dau and Schmidt in 4:28.98.
