Titan athletes wrap up track season

DES MOINES – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire’s two state qualifiers wrapped up their season taking on the elite athletes in Class 1A at the 2014 State Track and Field Meet.

On Thursday, Marcus Girres placed 21st in the 200-meter prelims with a time of 24 seconds even. All but one of the eight finalists finished the race in under 23 seconds with the top time posted by West Lyon’s Kyle Groeneweg in 21.93 seconds.

On Friday, senior Jake Wagner competed in the high jump and was unable to clear the starting height of 5 feet, 8 inches. Freshman Mitchell Martin of Danville won the event with a leap of 6 feet, 7 inches.
