Titans split first games of 2014
GRAETTINGER – Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire opened its season by pounding Sibley-Ocheyedan in its season opener on Tuesday and then falling 14-3 to Okoboji on Wednesday.
In the Titans’ win, Andy Geelan was the winning pitcher as he went five innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits with seven strikeouts.
At the plate, Kyle Dalen went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs; Michael Girres was 1-3 with three runs and three RBIs; Alex Hoffman was 1-2 with three runs and one RBI; Tyler Hauge was 1-2 with a triple and two RBI’s Kodi Ferguson was 1-2 with an RBI and Marcus Girres was 1-4 with an RBI.
“Overall we played a good first game,” said GT/RA coach Corey Boe. “We got off to a slow start but once we got through the order once we figured it out. We made plays when we need to. This was a good first game for our young team to build off of.”
On Thursday, GT/RA trailed just 3-1 until the Pioneers put up an 11-run seven inning. Ethan Petersen took the loss for the Titans.
GT/RA (1-1) is at Pocahontas on Tuesday.
