Warriors notch pair of victories
FOREST CITY, SWEA CITY – North Union improved to 4-1 on the season with a pair of wins this past week.
The Warriors defeated Forest City on Wednesday 7-6 and then took care of North Iowa 7-0 on Thursday.
Against Forest City, Peyton Oleson picked up the win on the mound. She gave up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits with eight strikeouts and one walk.
The Warriors pounded out nine hits with Dena Looft going 4-4 with a double and two RBIs. Sarah Rolling was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs. Taylor Mathine was 1-3 while Autumn Boland and Emma Engelby each went 1-4. Kyarsten Mullen and Jessica Govern each had an RBI.
Oleson pitched a two-hit shutout against North Iowa. She struck out seven and walked none in six innings. Anna Ingalls pitched one inning and recorded one strikeout.
North Union was limited to five hits on the night, but drew six walks. Mullen, Looft, Rolling, Ingalls and Engelby each had a hit with Rolling and Engelby recording a double. Engelby had two RBIs while Looft and Mathine each had one.
North Union is at the Estherville Lincoln Central Softball Tournament today and then takes on Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire in Swea City on Monday.
